14 of the 15 League clubs turned up on a cool and slightly damp day at Slaley Hall to play the 2024 Anniversary Cup
Slaley Hall hosted this inaugural event of the 2024 season on the Priestman Course. Despite fears that the incessant rain might stop the event going ahead the course actually held up very well but seemed very long (to some of us, anyway).
It was very tight at the top with three clubs in contention, each with 41 points. A countback was required to separate them with High Gosforth Park coming out on top, Slaley Hall second and Stocksfield an honourable third.
Nearest the pin was won by Ian Stoddart of Tyneside (though he was lucky the committee didn't take part in the club event as our President, Les Palmer lipped out of a hole in one on the same hole and ended up mere inches away!)
Les and Jude, Hadrian League Secretary went on to win the Committee competition, too with 36 points... 2 clear of the next best score.
Slaley Hall looked after us very well, giving us a room to ourselves and supplying all our needs throughout the day.
Slaley Hall Captain, Chris Ellison made appearances at the start and end of proceedings even though she was injured and unable to play.
Thanks to everyone for taking part and making it a great start to the season
