The Colin Mussett Anniversary Cup Report - 2026

 Ponteland GC

 Sunday 26th of April  2026

A successful start to another season

Though there was a threat of rain the Colin Mussett Anniversary Cup 2026 got off to a great start and turned out to be a good day for golf... not too hot, not too windy... and it stayed almost totally dry.

The Ponteland course was in excellent condition for April with firm, dry fairways and fast running greens. With all of the trees bursting into leaf it was a picture to behold.
Whilst there was a fairly wide spread of scores there were three results in the 40's with one outstanding score of 47 points!

In the Clubhouse there was a buzz of conversation as the event did what it is supposed to do and brought Captains and Vice Captains together to meet and chat.
Ponteland had offered us a wide range of main courses and sweets and everyone appeared to enjoy there choices of meals (I know I certainly did!)
Following a few words from our Chairman, Steve Rooney, the raffle was drawn and prizes collected. Then the prizes for the day's play were awarded.

The Hadrian League, on behalf of all of the member Clubs, would like to thank Ponteland for hosting this first event of the season so well and getting us off to a great start.
And finally, we'd like to thank Ponteland again for stepping in to host the event at such short notice and allowing us to retain the original event date.

For our new Sponsors Matty Oxley and Calum Russell started the day off alongside the Hadrian League's Steve Rooney and Scott Gallagher
